What makes a leader ?

When asked to define the ideal leader, many would emphasize traits such as intelligence, toughness, determination and vision.
Almost everybody in the business world already have heard the case of an intelligent, highly trained executive, who was promoted to a position of leadership but failed in office. And have also heard cases of individuals of intellectual capacity and considerable technical skill, but not extraordinary - they were promoted to a similar position and it became successful.
Communication is the key:
Knowing your audience is essential because great communicators have an appreciation for positioning and understand the people they’re trying to reach and what they can and can’t hear. They send their message in through an open door rather than trying to push it through a wall. But communication can’t always follow the top-down model. Leaders must be masterful listeners, they need to be able to receive as well as send.

Nobody born as a leader, but anyone can become one!
