Although there are many search engines, Google will most likely refer more traffic to your website than all others combined so it is imperative to have it indexed in Google
Google claims to have millions of web sites indexed but there are still some websites that fail to make it into the Google index even though they have been live for a long time.!
You can find lots of E-books about this topic, all of them providing new and more effective ways to get your web site listed in Google. The fact is that many of those methods are either complicated or expensive.
The three methods that I will mention on this article are Free, simple and have been very effective for me until now.
The first method and most obvious is to submit your web site Google’s free submit your site form. Just submit your home page and Google’s crawler, Googlebot, will crawl the rest.
The second method that I suggest, which is Google’s preferred method of finding sites to index, would be to find a web site that Google already crawls and place there a link to your site. Finding a website that is already being crawled by Google is not hard as there are millions of webs sites indexed, but most of them might not accept to place a link to your website for free nor even accept a link exchange. My advice here is to find forums where the topics discussed are related to your website content, join them and place your link in the signatures. You’ll notice an increase of your traffic right away and your site will be indexed in Google quite fast. Another suggestion is to look for the web sites that are linking to your competitors try to place your link there.
The third method, is recommended by almost any good E-book about websites indexing, is to submit your web site to the Yahoo! Directory and/or Open Directory Project index (I recommend to submit to both). This method has always worked for me perfectly. According my experience I could even say that this method guarantees that your site will be indexed in Google.
If you follow these steps you’ll be able to find your web site indexed in Google within 4-8 weeks.
